Another Nice Rack

The bike racks at Ruth's Diner in Emigration Canyon. My whole family met there for breakfast to celebrate Memorial Day. The fritatta was good.

Tiger Habitat at Hogle Zoo

We took Hannah to the zoo for the first time. She loved it! I took a lot of pictures.

Yawn.

I'm not sleeping much these days. Too much to do.
I'm tired.

Fire Bush

I gotta be honest, this is the only image I made today. Good thing I like it.

Someone Left the Window Open

This is a really cool old dilapidated farm house in Rush Valley. I was on my way to Ophir, Utah (yes, it does too exist!) to shoot some real estate and had to stop for a half-hour or so. I want to go back out there with my real camera! I figure I'll do a "photo safari" out there...anyone want to come?

Trailer Park Omen

Is it just me or do you get the feeling this trailer park is going down?

The Clean Plate Club

Mmmm. Yummy dessert today at Keith and Jessica's wedding luncheon. Too bad, it's all gone!

Waning and Waxing Lights

The Utah sunsets we all know and love framing the recently lit light post on a baseball field.

Black & White Flower

Lori thought this flower had a cool middle so she wanted me to photograph it. I shot it with the big camera and figured I'd get a few for this blog too.

Black and White Landscape - Like Nature Intended

The Jordan River near my house. What a beautiful spring day! This is Vignette's Ilford film mode. I couldn't get anything I liked in color despite 7 or 8 attempts so I switched to B&W and loved it. I love spring. I'm wearing shorts and feet shoes as we speak!

Zanzibar

The Zanzibar, a club in Salt Lake City. I was shooting Kosha Dillz' performance. I had a great time.

I know, I know...

Yeah, another pic of Hannah. But she's just so cute! This was right before she freaked out because I wouldn't let her drive. I think we're in for it. The reason I used this one as the photo for today was because it is so well exposed and so sharp. That doesn't happen too often with cell phones, eh?

Sunday Nap

Sunday is a good day for naps. Lori and Hannah took one this afternoon.
I usually shoot on the Toy Camera setting in Vignette but this time I wanted something lighter, more pastelly, more Sunday afternoon napish. So I did the faded colors. I'm still shooting almost everything square. I think it's just because it's so different from the normal framing I do with my SLRs.

Joust

Midieval-joust-renaissance-armor-knight

We heard about the renaissance fair from a friend on facebook. Having never been to one, we decided to check it out. It was much, much larger than we thought. We had a good time and I took a lot of photos.

The Best Teacher in the World Retires!

Now I can't prove it but I honestly believe that my mom is the best teacher in the world. Why to I think that? Mostly because she's my mom, but also because she is the most loving person I know and she genuinely cares about her students. She works incredibly hard and is basically the coolest person I know.
I shot this with Vignette but left my normal Toy Camera setting for the Velvia setting. The big issue with cell phone cameras is that they typically lack contrast and saturation. This setting adds both and gives you pretty amazing performance and some awesome images!

Who is it?

I have done quite a bit of real estate photography and continue to do it on a limited basis, mostly just for a few clients. This is the door of a home I shot today. I found the old-school peep hole concept cool.
As has become the norm, the image was shot with Vignette in the toy camera mode. That's the mode that I typically keep the phone in for if I just need to shoot something quickly. I like what it does to the normally dull cell camera photos.

Needed, One Lawnmower

Now I don't like to judge...okay, that's a lie...of course I do. In my not-so-humble opinion as someone who's photographed about 5000 homes for sale, I'd say that maybe if they're trying to sell their house--which they are--perhaps they should invest in some sort of lawn-shortening implement.
Shot with Vignette on the Toy Camera setting. Have I mentioned that I love this app?

Owie!

Sprained-Ankle-Bruise
Pictureline is the the best photography store on the planet. Shop there if you want to be cool. Why? Because they are cool. Berkley has often been my personal gear consultant as I bathe in the gear porn that is Pictureline.
Unfortunately, Berkley is apparently a bit clumsy. This is his ankle. You go, Berk.
Photographed, of course, with Vignette for Android--if only Vignette had an X-ray mode...

Fire Plugs, What's Our Fascination?

Fire Hydrant

I'm pretty baffled as to why fire hydrants are so fascinating photographically, but they are. They're interesting.

Cherry Blossoms for My Mom

Pink Spring Cherry Blossoms

It's Mother's Day today and in honor of my mom I went on a walk and concentrated on finding beauty wherever I could. That's how my mom lives her life. She is a teacher and is always looking for the good in everything and everybody. I always knew that she loved me and was proud of me. She's my hero. I love you, Mom. I hope you have a happy Mother's Day.

Cemetaries and Balloons

One of my favorite traditions that my in-laws have happened Saturday. My wife's mother, Dorothy, died when Lori was 12. Her birthday was May 10 so every year the Saturday before Mother's Day the Lindsays meet at the cemetary where Dorothy is buried. They pass out dozens of helium balloons and each member of the family writes down a note to Grandma Dorothy for this year. All at once they let the balloons go and watch their messages take flight to deliver their messages to their beloved wife/mother/grandmother. I really enjoy the tradition and have taken it upon myself to document it every year. This year I took about 250 photos.

So in honor of Dorothy, today gets three photos.

Feeling the Baby

There have been a lot of images of Hannah lately since I've been home a lot more the last few weeks. Lori is 6 months pregnant and we're trying to get her used to the idea that the baby inside there is actually a person. It's been fun to see the curiosity as she feels Lori's belly and talks to "Baby Girl" as she's named her. (Hopefully she gets more creative as she grows up. ;))

Tree Shadows

Sometimes to relax and think I take a walk and just look for interesting things to photograph. I can't tell you how much I love having a phone that actually makes decent photos. I don't have to take anything else. I liked how the trees cast their shadows on the road near my home.

Spinning for Fun

I worked all day yesterday. Hannah came down in one of her pretty dresses and we spun in the chair for a little while before getting back to work. I love that kid.
The timing is really tough with the delay from the camera. You just don't know when it's actually going to take the photo.
Shot in Vignette.

Portrait of a Photographer

I had lunch with Raji Barbir, another photographer and filmmaker. I appreciate him letting me pick his brain and we had a good time. This is Raji. Check out his website at www.tinycomet.com.
I shot this in Vignette but then toned the black and white in PicSayPro.

At The Car Wash

There were so many fun images from going through the car wash! I wanted to do a whole series. Maybe I will the next time I wash my car.

Aloe Vera

I dropped my 100 year-old grandma off at home after Sunday dinner and this was on her counter. Few things remind me of her more than Aloe Vera. It was the salve on many a scraped knee over my childhood. So I took a picture.
