Best Halloween Decor Ever

Our friends Jim and Michelle pretty much corner the market on amazing Halloween Decor. Their party was impeccably decked with spooky paraphernalia. This was the centerpiece of a plateful of creepy.

I don't know what it is about this image but I love it. It just looks cool.

Salsa and Hair Balls - Ode To An Old Cat

Salsa.
This day has to go to our cat of 20 years, Salsa. She was put down today. She has been a great cat. From the moment she offered up her first gift (the unfortunate Herb the Gerbil) to the more recent days of sitting on the couch while the second generation of kids beat on her, she was a dedicated pet and an overall great friend. I will miss you...but not the nights when you used to come sit on my face.
I did bend the rules a bit for this occasion. I actually shot this frame on Sunday because I knew I would not be able to be there today.

The Colors of Fall

Don't you just LOVE the oranges of autumn? In Utah we have these colors year around...lucky us.

Rainy Day For Football

Utah-Football-Rice-Eccles-Stadium-Rain-Football

The concourse at Rice-Eccles Stadium before the Utah vs. Colorado State football game. In case you're keeping score, Utah won 59-6.

Hyper Fall

We never get much time with colored leaves so I wanted to make it count. A cross-process makes the colors really pop.

Vignette, of course.

Olivia @ 2.5 Months

I have to post the occasional required child shot. In the end, most of us use photography to document our memories. A large number of my personal photos are of my wife and kids. That's what means the most to me.

A Barbie Girl in a Barbie World

The extensive Barbie collection at a house I photographed recently.
It's got kind of a creepy fem-bot vibe, doesn't it?

Etched Light

I just loved the way the sun shone through this light fixture onto the wall. I love that the numbers provide a backdrop that grounds the reflection in reality. It's just a cool image, in my opinion.

Bands of Color

You definitely lose quality in a cell phone photo when you zoom. It basically just makes the pixels larger so everything seems closer. But zooming was the only way to get the bands of color across the fields that I wanted in this image. This is out in Rush Valley, Utah.

Pushing Aside the Distractions

I'm not sure why but this is one of my favorite images. I think it's the blank wall taking precedence over the sign. We have so many things in our lives telling us what to do constantly that pushing them to the side and just looking at something, like the bands of color made up by the shrubs, the concrete, and the bricks, can seem almost revelatory.

Hand Me a New App - Retro Camera for Android

A new app called Retro Camera for Android. It's a response to the iPhone app Hipstamatic Camera. It's got several retro-style cameras with some interesting looks.
It's pretty limited and doesn't use the full size of the files so that's a negative right out of the box. You can cover a lot of the limitations in a cell camera's sensor in a print by getting more resolution. I rarely use any app that won't let me export full-sized images. (that means YOU PicSayPro)

This is the Pinhole option and it's kind of fun. I don't know how often I'll really use it because it's slow and not full-sized.

Before the Innoculations

The contented smiles didn't last long at Olivia's 2-month appointment. She had 3 shots just 5 minutes later.

In case you're wondering how THAT went, see below.

Beautiful Omen

Fall is officially here. It's beautiful, but it means things are about to get cold.
